Gato Primo (voiced by Garrett Fisher ) is one of the main characters in the Wedgies series, Calling Cat-22, and appears in all five episodes. He serves as Cat-22's boss. He is a stout black cat with yellow eyes, dressed in a double-breasted blue blazer with brass buttons, a striped gold tie, and a white shirt with a striped blue collar. In at least two episodes ("Bones" and "Flying Discs") he mingles Spanish words with his English, which together with his name indicates that he is Hispanic. His name (or possibly his title or codename) appears on model sheets for the series, but is revealed on the series only on a poster in the episode "Stink."
In each episode Gato gives an outline of the latest mission to 22 via a pre-recorded message in an attaché-case, concluding each message with "This brief case will self-destruct in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1..." whereupon the brief-case explodes, invariably doing some harm to 22. Unlike Agent Andrew, Gato Primo seems oblivious to 22's obvious loathing of his job and unwillingness to undertake new assignments, regarding him as a zealous and cunning agent, despite the inevitable catastrophic results of each mission.
- In the series itself, Gato Primo's name appears only as "Gato." It is possible that "Gato Primo" may be his title or code name as chief of the organization, and the organization itself may be called "Gato." Strictly speaking, "Gato Primo" is Spanish for "Cat Cousin," but it may simply be a mistake for "Primer Gato," which would mean "first cat" or "Cat Number One" (or even "Cat-1").
- In Matthew Schwartz's original character sketch, Gato has a thick mustache.
